Workshops

Waiting for the 2026 workshops, here are the 2025 edition workshops. Please note that you will have the choice of 10 additional workshops (themed descents) offered during saturday's grand descent. These “Grande descente” workshops will also appear in the “river workshop registration” e-mail sent out 2 or 3 weeks before the OCF.

Remember that registration for the “ground workshops” takes place at the Festival (and not online as for the river workshops).

The OCF's favourite themes:

  • Outdoor cooking.
  • First aid in the river.
  • Girding and posture in a canoe.
  • Yoga and breathing.
  • Canoe technique and safety: for beginners, intermediate or advanced paddlers.
  • Bivouac / camping / camping equipment.
  • Organizing a canoe trip.
  • "Bachology": the art and the way to use a tarp.
  • Fauna and flora of the Drôme river.
  • Relaxation.
  • Video and photo in the river.
  • Fishing in a canoe.
  • Telling the story of your trip.
  • Energy management in bivouac: batteries, solar panels…
  • Leave No Trace camping.
  • Group management (leadership).
  • Packraft: technique, trips and tips.
  • Canoe + bike trips.
  • Water filtration.
  • Lighting a fire in all weathers.
  • Edible plants.

Workshops: how it works.

The workshops can be in French, English or both at the same time! There are more than 100 workshops in 3 days proposed in 3 main families:

  • Technical canoeing for Beginners (level 1), Intermediate (level 2) or Advanced (level 3).
  • Safety (rope techniques, unpinning, first aid…)
  • Canoe Culture: including many of the topics described above.

By taking part in the OCF, the idea is to do a practical workshop on the water adapted to your level. Each participant is entitled to two on-water workshops during the weekend, with a limit of one workshop per day (e.g. one on Friday and one on Sunday, or one on Saturday and one on Sunday).

Registration for the workshops is in two steps : one part online for the river workshops and one part on site (at the Festival) for the workshops on the ground.
