Greg SPENCER (England).

From the first moment he encountered La Drôme, Greg has been a passionate advocate for the Open Canoe Festival. He encouraged visitors from across Europe through enthusiast networks and through features in media such as The Paddler and Kayak Session Magazine, and sees a deep romance connecting the OCF to La magie de l’arrière-pays.

At each OCF, Greg welcomes newcomers with an Introduction to the Drôme, and runs the final workshop of the event, a Farewell to the Drôme. In between he delivers workshops based on a lifetime on and around the water, drawing on experience in everything from canoe sailing to white water canoeing, and from quietwater “style” canoeing to expedition paddling.

Away from the OCF, Greg’s adventure sport passions range from sea kayaking to white water SUP, and from dinghy cruising to mountaineering. He can often be found guiding people Gorge Walking, Caving, on Via Ferrata, and more. He also has a long history of volunteering, including for the American Canoe Association and for PaddleUK.
